It's Time to Make History.

Richmond knows how to make history and we are't done yet.  Take a quick look at the region through this video trailer and ask "what if" we didn't keep telling stories, building relationships and doing business as usual?

What skill/gift do you bring to the community?  My work focuses on strategies to cultivate a data-sharing culture in siloed systems in order to reveal and heal social inequities in our communities.

How long have you lived in here?
My dog and I moved here from Portland, Oregon in 2012. We're enjoying life in The Fan right now.

What do you love most about RVA? Richmond is rich in diversity. It's what challenges me to live with purpose and it's why I moved here 5 years ago.

What is a hope for RVA going forward through the work of TRHT? I think we're long past hoping in RVA. We need to expect equity and TRHT will be one way to help us collectively move the needle for lasting change.

How long have you lived in here? This is my 7th year living in Richmond. Before that I was living in Northern Virginia. I have lived in different parts of central Richmond, right now I live in Carver.

What do you love most about RVA?
I love the amazing diversity of Richmond. I love the way Richmond mixes new and old in a way that is truly unique.

What is a hope for RVA going forward through the work of TRHT?
I think right now Richmond is on the cusp of so many amazing things. I can only hope that this city will move forward, and grow together amongst all it's unique juxtapositions, in a way that is good for all.

What skill/gift do you bring to the community?
I bring a love of listening, and (I'm told) a knack for getting people to tell their stories.

How long have you lived here? I've lived in the City of Richmond for nine years, since relocating with my family from Chicago, IL. We live in Stratford Hills on the south side.

What do you love most about RVA? It's impossible to name one thing that I love most. A few things that are top of mind:
•    The sheer lush beauty of the city
•    The thriving communities of visual artists/writers
•    That so many people are working so hard to acknowledge and rectify the lasting effects of deep historical wounds

What is a hope for RVA going forward through the work of TRHT? I want to see what happens if enough of us have the courage to regularly listen to each other's stories (including the parts we don't want to hear), truthfully tell our own (not just the parts we're proud of), and bravely walk in each other's shoes, even if it hurts. Especially if it hurts. And I want to see what happens if we apply that experience to our everyday lives--who we acknowledge at the grocery store or on the street; what we speak up against or for at our jobs or our kids' schools. I think if enough of us do these things, we can transform ourselves and this city. This region can surpass its legacy of an entrenched hierarchy of human value--if enough of us want it. It's not a quick or easy fix, but disrupting hundreds of years of inequality is hard work.

I think I am a mix between a creative catalyst and a community builder.

How long have you lived here?
3 years in Church Hill

What do you love most about RVA? There are a lot of people here who really love the city and are passionate about being a part of change. I also love the murals, the river, the restaurants and breweries.

What is a hope for RVA going forward through the work of TRHT? I hope we can wrestle with our history and current issues in a deeper way in hopes of creating relationships and solutions that move us toward being a more thriving and inclusive city.

What skill/gift do you bring to the community?  Giving Voice Overs; Intimate knowledge of 20th Century Richmond and the overarching roles of race, power, and subjugation in the growth and development of the metropolis

How long have you lived here?  47 years

What do you love most about RVA? Its history

What is a hope of RVA going forward through the work of TRHT? My hope is that the city that twice was burned (first by General Benedict Arnold during the American Revolution and second by the retreating Confederates at the conclusion of the Civil War) and twice rose again from the ashes can demonstrate to the nation that no division---whether racial, economic, or social---can triumph over the human spirit to rebuild provided it is guided by the ageless wisdom that love is stronger than hate.
